Lake Ontario Browns 4/15/03 thru 5/15/03

The weather has broken and the best Brown Trout fishing in years has sprung forward. Lots of fish and the size is great. Here are some of the pictures of the Browns we caught.

bear bearNomad Charters and Big Bear charters teamed up for two days of fishing for this fine group of men.

Lake Champlain Results

5/28/03 The fishing on Lake Champlain to this point has been very slow. This past week the bait started to show up and we have been catching a few more Salmon and Lake Trout. It should pick up nicely this week.
bernie day 1
5/29/03 After a slow start on Salmon we switched over to Lake Trout and came up with these beauties. After taking the picture we caught several more and "long distanced released" even more. They claimed they let them go on purpose because I had already cleaned a bunch and they didn't want me to get the fish cleaning stuff out. I thanked them!
Donald and Betty
6/3/03 With the nicest weather day we have had so far it was nice just to be out there. The Lake Trout have started to hit fairly regularly. The Salmon fishing continues to be real spotty. Don and Betty enjoyed their limit of lake trout and after letting a dozen more go back to the water we called it a day.
Jim and Candy
6/5/03 It was a little rainy with no wind at all but that didn't stop the fish from bitting. With a couple of nice Salmon and a our limit of Lake Trout we had another good day. Jim was leading the day with a nice 9 1/2 lb Lake Trout until Candy came in with a fish that weighed in at 10+ lbs. She wins again.
windsor boys 1 our last fish
6/6/03 The Windsor boys harrassed the Captain from the time we left until the time we returned but its hard to complain when you have a day like this. We caught no salmon but made up for it with this great catch of lakers. Wayne waited until we had taken our picture one fish shy of our limit but caught this one when we were cleaning fish to officially reach our limit.

Dan's crew After first picture
6/7/03 My canadian friends had a nice day on the lake. Nice weather, lots of jokes, and a bunch of fish. The big fish in the picture was 31 inches long and weighed over 12 lbs.
matt's crew
6/7/03 Matt, Al, and Jim enjoyed an afternoon on lake champlain. We got a bunch of lake trout and had a big salmon on the line for a few seconds before it came off. Overall a very nice day.

6/8/03 Chris Fields and his friends were a good crew to have on a slow afternoon. We worked hard but could only manage a couple of nice lake trout. The young man, (Jordan) enjoyed himself and even the ones who caught nothing are still smiling. We will try to do better in July when we do it again.

6/9/03 Howie and Al were lucky enough to hit the windiest day in the last 2 weeks but still managed to land their limit of nice lake trout. Howie lost his hat but Al gave him the one he won with the biggest fish of the day, even though Al ate all the food we brought on board.

6/10/03 On the second day of our trip Howie and Al finally had some nice weather. Blue skies and a light breeze just added to a perfect day. We caught our limit and threw a few bag and lost a bundle. At one point we had three fish on and Al lost everyone of them, but it didn't take Howie long to catch up. Howie caught the biggest fish and feeling sorry for Al, gave him the big fish hat. We all had a good time!
6/15/03
6/15/03 The weather forcast was for high winds and rainy weather but we ended up with sunshine and light winds for most of the day. The fathers day present turned out perfect and we even caught some nice fish for a very pleasant day on the lake.
6/17/03
6/17/03 The weather cooperated again today. Plenty of sunshine and light winds. The fishing was slow for salmon, as it has been all spring. We finally found some lake trout and ended the day very respectable. With the fish in the picture, a few we lost, and some we returned to the water, we had a good day. Our young friend in the picture was the target of a seagul that apparently was upset because we didn't feed it enough. After washing his hair he returned to fishing and landed a 11+ lb trout.

6/20/03 Alan and Bill came out today and had such a good time that alan called home to ask his wife and two girls (Anne and Holly) to join them. We went back to the dock and picked them up. Everyone ended up catching at least one nice Laker. The fish that the girls are holding were caught after the picture of the fish on the hanging stick. Alan's wife caught the biggest fish and Bill senior lost the biggest fish. Anne and Holley played their fish perfectly and enjoyed feeding the seagul's when we cleaned the fish. Nice day, nice people.
6/17/03
6/21/03 Old friend John Waite and his crew enjoyed a good day on the lake. We caught fish and the weather was great.
6/17/03
6/22/03 Christina and Hahum Mitnik started their vacation with a day on the lake. With plenty of fish and calm seas with plenty of sunshine, Hahum set a record for most lake trout ever lost in one day while still getting the biggest of the day and they threw a bunch back. We hope they enjoy the rest of their vacation as much as the fishing trip.
6/17/03
6/26/03 Bernie took the boys on a fishing trip and we had another good day. We kept only enough for a couple good meals and threw back the rest.
6/17/03
6/29/03 Eric Aragon and his friend enjoyed a good day on the lake. We caught a lot of fish and enjoyed the warm weather and light breeze.
6/17/03
7/03/03 We threw back all the fish we caught except for the ones that were hurt. This young man expertly played most of them. We all had a good time.
6/17/03

7/08/03 Our Best day of the year for lake trout. We limited out again were throwing back fish that weighed 9 to 12 lbs. We had good action all morning long. Lenard Bickford and his fishing buddy couln't ask for more. Even the weather was great with a nice breeze to keep us cool.
6/17/03

6/17/03
7/18/03 We worked for everything we got today but ended up with 6 nice Lake Trout. Our Best day of the year for lake trout. We limited out again were throwing back fish that weighed 9 to 12 lbs. Howard Stanley and his crew lost a few and threw back a couple but with the nice weather and cool breeze it was a nice day overall.

judd
7/31/03 A very nice day with Chris Judd and his sidekick. We caught a bunch of nice fish and only kept the ones we hurt. Chris was outfished again. Usually Chris comes out fishing with his buddy Lenny..This was much more pleasant.

8/2/03 Well, this was my last day this year for Lake Champlain but We finished it in style. Mr. Maloney caught the biggest Lake Trout we have ever caught aboard the Nomad on this lake. It measured 34 inches and weighed over 13 lbs. It was a real beauty with no bad marks on it at all. It is presently being mounted at Yasner Taxidermy. We had a very nice day and other than getting attacked by spiders and having a fishing rod stuck it went great.
